Abstract

648,793. Cathode-ray tubes. JACKSON, D., and PYE, Ltd. Feb. 7, 1948, No. 3633. [Class 39 (i)] The annular focusing device is translationally adjustable in two directions which are perpendicular to each other and lie in a plane which is transverse to the axis thereof. A flanged bracket 18 has grooves 17 in which pins 16, attached to the magnet holder 15, can slide so that the permanent magnet 10 can be adjusted in one direction by the screw 22. The magnet 10 is held between clamping magnet rings 11, 12, which are secured by four screws 13a, two or more of which are adapted to slide in further grooves arranged in the plate holder 15 in a direction at right angles to the grooves in the bracket 18. The two screws 22 are held in bosses 20 in lugs or a flange 19 which houses the magnet assembly ; they engage with the magnet, or flat members 24 carried thereby, or with member 12 and adjust the position of the magnet in conjunction with rubber buffers 25, in directions which are respectively horizontal and vertical or inclined thereto at 30 degrees. The bracket 18, which may be mounted on the chassis of a television receiver, also carries a bracket fitted with the rubber ring 30 for supporting the tube neck. An extension 32 of the clamp 11 may house a slidable magnetic member 33 for regulating the focusing gap ; a screw in the member 33 may engage with an arcuate slot in the member 32 to facilitate regulation.
