Abstract

652,358. Cooling discharge apparatus. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Jan. 20, 1947, No. 1758. Convention date, Jan. 15, 1944. [Class 39 (i)] A hot body such as the anode 11, Fig. 2, of a discharge device for generating oscillations, is located in a cooling jacket 13, and water or other cooling liquid is introduced in the form of a plurality of thin jets at a speed greater than that of the mass of liquid in the jacket so as to cause turbulence, and the jets impinge obliquely on to the surface to be cooled; as a result bubbles of air or steam are removed from the surface of the hot body and deposition of particles in the liquid on to the hot body is prevented. The liquid is introduced through apertured tubes 14 connected by perforated rings 15. The jets emerge from the holes in the rings 15 at an angle of about 45 degrees with respect to the anode surface. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 suggests that jets of liquid may be introduced through narrow tubes not con. nected by rings. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
