Abstract
A device for mixing two fluids under high pressure and different high temperatures comprises a T-junction having inlets 34, 38 and a mixture outlet 36, the member 32 having a coaxial liner 40 forming an annular chamber 42 with apertures 44 adjacent the fluid inlet 38. As shown the liner may be fixed at one end and free at the other to allow for thermal expansion, and the apertures 44 may be inclined, or radial, and may extend circumferentially round the liner. Fig. 3 (not shown), depicts a venturiform liner (40') with radial apertures (44') and annular baffles (46) with apertures (48) in the annular chamber 42. The flow area presented by the apertures 44 is preferably 35 per cent of that of the inlet 38. The presence of the annular chamber reduces the thermal gradients along the member 32.
