Abstract
652,301. Screw clamps. KWIKFORM, Ltd. March 10, 1948, No. 7301. [Class 44] [Also in Groups I and X] U-shaped clamps 16, Fig. 1, with clamping screw 28 secured to the upper ends of tubular uprights 15 carried by a scaffolding structure 10, 12, secure in position a guard rail 14 for the platform 11. Each clamp 16, which may be formed in two halves, has a spigot 26, Fig. 2, secured to the upright 15 by a force fit or by welding and has an internally threaded boss 27 receiving the screw 28 and provided with a spigot 29 adapted to extend into a second guard rail tube 30, e.g. at a corner of the platform 11. The spigot 29 may be replaced by a socket. The lower end of each tube 15 has a boss 18 and a clamping screw 19 for engaging a spigot 13 of the frame member 12 and integral with the boss 18 is a clip 20 engaging a toe board 21 on the platform 11. A vertical support 32, Fig. 1, for carrying lifting tackle may be secured to the tube 15 by a clamp 33, the support 32 engaging in a recess in the clamp 16. According to the Provisional Specification the spigot 26 may be replaced by a socket. Specification 581,429 and 642,367, [both in Group X], are referred to.
