Abstract

635,999. Scaffolding clamps. O'DONNEL, J. R. Feb. 13, 1947, No. 4223. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1946. [Class 20 (ii)] A scaffolding clamp comprises a jaw 22, Figs. 6, 7 formed with recesses 24, 26 back-to-back and at right angles, and is hinged to two single recessed jaws 30, 32 having flat bases 50, the jaws being clamped around scaffold poles 101, 14 by means of hinged bolts 40. Hinged jaws 55, 65 clamped around a third scaffold pole 10 have flat bases 57, 75 and are attached to the jaw 30 (or jaw 32) by means of a threaded stud 59 which secures the jaws 30, 55 in any relative angular position, or a spider 77, Figs. 4, 5 supporting diagonals 18 may be similarly secured to the base 50 of the jaw 30 instead of the hinged jaws 55, 65. The spider 77 may also be secured to the base 75 of the jaw 65. Transverse laterals 16, Fig. 4, provided with flange plates 81 may be secured to the bases 50 of the clamps by threaded studs and a transverse lateral 16 with a clamp at each end may be constructed or pre-assembled as a unit. In a modification the jaws 30, 55 are integral and formed as a double recessed jaw 30a Fig. 8 (not shown).
