Abstract

651,804. Cartons; paper and like bags. LEMON, H. L., and MACKINTOSH & SONS, Ltd., J. Feb. 12, 1948, No. 4123. [Classes 18 and 94(ii)] A container comprises a base portion 1 consisting of a bottom and side and end walls made of cardboard or other relatively stiff material and an upper tubular portion 2 of relatively thin flexible material which may be transparent. The upper portion is secured to the inner or outer face of the base portion and extends partly or completely thereover, and the end walls of the base portion have upwardly directed pointed parts 7 for strengthening the lower ends of the upper portion. The end walls may be provided with vertical fold lines 6 to facilitate collapsing of the container prior to use. In a modification the upper portion is secured inside the base portion and extends through the lower end thereof, to enable said extension to be sealed and to be tucked into the base portion prior to closing of the floor flaps of the latter.
