Abstract

594,503. Cartons; paper bags; packing. KAY, J. A., ROSE, A. G., and ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. July 27, 1945, No. 19282. [Classes 18, 94 (i) and 94 (ii)] The end closure of a cardboard or paper container is formed by folding outwardly a wall portion 16 about a scored folding line 17 so as to cause triangular portions. 18, thereof to fold over towards the inside surface of the wall 16 about scored lines 19 radiating from the ends of the line 17, and at the same time causing the two adjacent wall portions 20 to partially fold inwards about scored lines 21 to form triangular tucks 22, and the opposing wall portion 23 partially to fold over the tucks 22, the closure being completed by folding the portion 23 flat on to the tucks and thereafter folding the outwardly folded portion 16 on to the top of the portion 23. The carton is made from a blank 11 which is folded about scored lines 12 into the form of a collapsed tube and secured by a tab 13. Notches 14 are provided to assist a packaging machine to open up the collapsed tube. On opening the carton for use the triangular positions 18 may be pressed.open to form a pouring spout.
