650,833. Pulverulent - fuel burners. THOMPSON WATER TUBE BOILERS, Ltd., J., and O'REILLY, J. P. Nov. 22, 1947, No. 30989. [Class 75(i)] In a pulverized fuel burner comprising a main jet tube 6 for the primary air and fuel -supply, a secondary air supply port 8 surrounding the main jet orifice 7, one or more channels or flutes 11 opening through and diverging from the main jet tube 6 wall to direct a narrow stream of fuel and primary air into the secondary air flow, a tertiary air duct 13 mounted within the main jet tube 6 and terminating in a nozzle 14 within the main jet orifice 7, means are provided to control the tertiary air discharge from nozzle 14. Nozzle 14 comprises an outer tube 16 having a convergent nozzle 17 provided with ports 19 and peripheral ducts 20 terminating in skewed ports 21, there being an internal sleeve 22 with ports 23, 24 adapted to be brought into register with the ports 19, 20 on operation of a hand wheel 30 the shaft 28 of which has a squared portion 27 slidable within a boss 26 secured to sleeve 22 by means of a spider 25. Axial sliding of shaft 28 enables plug 31 to cover or uncover orifice 18.
