Abstract

650,394. Textile twisting machines. SCRAGG, Ltd., S. & E., and SCRAGG, F. May 1, 1948, No. 11989. [Class 120(ii)] A yarn winding and twisting machine with twisting arrangements at delivery has a driving belt disposed in a vertical plane providing upper and lower runs, each driving horizontally disposed twisting spindles arranged so that alternate spindles are driven by one side of the belt and the remaining spindles are driven by the other side, and associated with each spindle is a yarn forwarding wheel adapted to draw yarn from the spindle and feed it to a takeup roller. The spindles are carried on pivoted arms 8, movable by arms 18 carried at the inner ends of control rods 17, which also carry the positively driven forwarding wheels 14 adapted to be moved out of driving engagement simultaneously with the spindles. The driving belt 1 is tensioned by the weight of a pivotally mounted electric driving motor.
