Abstract
819,923. Textile spinning machines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. May 22. 1957 [June 4, 1956], No. 17240/56. Class 120(2) A single-sided ring spinning machine with means for assisting delivery of slivers from containers at floor level by an overhead path to drafting machanism is provided with a double row of staggered spindles. Slivers are fed from cans 10, 11 behind the machine and pass over rollers 13 driven by chains from the shaft of the bottom back roller 17 of the drafting apparatus, which may be as disclosed in Specification 734,978. From the front drafting rollers, yarns pass through eyelets in wire feeler members 36 of a stop motion. Should a yarn break, the corresponding member 36 will fall to contact an electrical conductor 40 to stop the machine. When starting the machine, the travellers are temporarily retarded by manually pivoting upstanding brushes 43, Fig. 5, into the paths of the travellers. To prevent the yarns lashing against each other, the spindles of the front row are each surrounded by a cylindrical shield 29 provided with a door 29 giving access to the interior of the shield. Between the spindles of the rear row, upstanding plates 31 are arranged and above these spindles are balloon control rings 32. Drive to the spindles is by a belt 22 that has two runs extending throughout the length of the spindle rail and is guided by pulleys 25 intermediately of the spindles. The belt passes over the driving pulley of an electric motor at one end of the spindle rail and over an adjustable tensioning pulley at the other end. According to the Provisional Specification, the spindles are driven through individual belts from intergeared parallel shafts extending longitudinally of the machine.
