650,381. Hypodermic syringes. BICKFORD & SONS, Ltd., A. M. March 9, 1948, No. 7245. Convention date, Jan. 19. 1948. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 22, 1948.]. [Class 81(ii)] A hypodermic syringe for injecting penicillin in oil or similar liquids from a container having an apertured resilient closure at one and a movable plug at the other comprises a body to accommodate the container having means to engage the movable plug and, at one end, a hollow connector which engages, at one of its ends, the aperture in the resilient closure end, at the other, a needle. As shown, a hollow body 1 is formed of strip metal having at one end a cap 2 through which a double-ended hollow connector 3 is screwed the end 8 engaging the aperture 9 in the resilient closure 6 of the container 5 whilst the end 10 is adapted to take a needle 11. The body is so shaped as to lock the container in position around its discharge end when closed by causing the tongue 22, projecting from the end 23 of the strip, to engage the slot 21 formed in the end 20. Disposed through an aperture at the other end of the body 1 is a plunger 14 carrying a piston 15 adapted to fit into the container 5 to actuate the movable plug 16. Finger grips 18 are also provided.
