938,777. Hypodermic syringes. BRUNSWICK CORPORATION. Sept. 11; 1961, No. 32514/61. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XVII] A package for hypodermic syringes comprises a main body section or sleeve 12, a cap 13 preferably sealed as at 37 and a reciprocable closure member 14 which houses the needle 27 and hub 26 of the syringe. The member 14 is ribbed at 19 to facilitate manipulation and is closed at its lower end 20 by a fibrous filter disc which only allows entry of bacteria-free air. The package is opened by tapping the end 20 until the seal 37 is broken and then by pushing upwardly member 14 until the syringe can be withdrawn together with the closure member which remains seated on the hub 26 to protect the needle until the syringe is to be filled. Modifications include directly sealing as at 114, Fig. 6, the top of the syringe piston 111 to the main sleeve, and providing a longitudinally extended cap 13 so that a filled syringe may be packaged, the closure member 14 in this case being provided with a lower end section into which the outlet end of the needle may be sealably embedded.
