Abstract
892,210. Hypodermic injection appliances. ASTRA, APOTEKARNES KEMISKA FABRIKER A.B. Jan. 12, 1961 [Jan. 20, 1960], No. 1331/61. Class 81 (2). A device to assist in the sterile withdrawal of liquids from a stoppered container comprises a cylindrical guide member 1 inside which a penetrating member 6 is slidable. These are normally assembled on top of a container 13 and retained either by a flanged metal ring or by a caplike extension 5 of the base of the guide member 1. When the contents are to be used the member 6 is pressed down to pierce the stopper 14 and the nipple of a hypodermic syringe is fitted into the conical recess 8 in the member 6. During storage and until the contents are exhausted the device is maintained sterile by a closely fitting cover 12 having an internal projection 11 for fitting into the recess 8.
