933,587. Hypodermic syringes. CHEMIE GRUNENTHAL G.m.b.H. Feb. 9, 1960 [Feb. 12, 1959], No. 4558/60. Class 81 (2). In an ampoule syringe having a cannula enclosed in a protective cap 7 which can be used as a piston-rod, a thickened portion 4 of the cannula is secured between a cannula holder 5 and an insert member 3, the cannula holder being secured to the syringe by a flanged cap 6 and serving as a seat for the protective cap. The insert member 3 is resilient and receives the rear part of the cannula. A cylindrical or conical portion of the holder supports the cannula and forms a seat for the protective cap which has a screwthread 11 for engagement when it is to be used as a piston-rod with a closure piston of the ampoule. For sterilization, the protective cap is incompletely pushed on the holder so that channels 12 in the holder permit sterilizing fluid to reach the cannula. For sealing, the cannula is pushed into a rubber plug 8 in the protective cap and may receive a core 9 which extends from the plug.
