Abstract

854,163. Medicament containers. PARKE, DAVIS & CO. Feb. 5, 1958. [Feb. 11, 1957]. No. 4642/57. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XVII]. A bottle 1, containing a liquid solvent and having a cup-like plug 2 containing tablets 8 to be dissolved in the solvent, is provided with an applicator in the form of a shank 9 at the end of which is mounted a sponge 10 or brush. The bottle 1 and plug 2 may be of plastics material or glass, and a sealing disc 7 may be of rubber or cork with a non-absorbent disc made of metal foil or plastics on one side. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3, the container and plug 12 are closed by a flanged push-on cap 15 apertured at the centre and overlying a resilient disc 16 which may be pierced by a hypodermic syringe to obtain liquid solute from the plug 12 without removing the plug from the bottle. Further, the walls or the bottom of the plug may be of polythene or rubber so that they may be pierced by a hypodermic needle to extract solvent from the bottle without removing the plug.
