Abstract
1284095 Container closures PHARMAGUMMI WIMMER WEST GmbH 4 Nov 1969 [11 Jan 1969 13 Sept 1969] 53996/69 Heading B8T An elastic material closure 1 adapted to be clamped on an upright medicament bottle neck 3 and pierceable by the needle 10 of an injection syringe, has at least one depression 5 in the outside surface of the closure for shortening the length of the puncture, the depression extending below the highest inside point of the closure member, this point being constituted by the base of a groove 7 in the inside surface of the closure. The groove may be annular. The closure, which may have circumferential heads (16), Fig. 2 (not shown), and a diameter slightly greater than that of a flanged annular clamp 2 to seat it rigidly on the bottle, can have an annular projection 18 which bears on the inside of the bottle neck. The thickness of the closure in the region of the depression is made greater at the base of the depression than elsewhere so that the forces set up during piercing tend to pull the closure material away from the needle 10. Spacer projections (21), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be provided to facilitate vacuum drying of the closures.
