Abstract

1309057 Bottle caps A A V FREDERIKSEN 13 Dec 1971 57692/71 Heading B8T A plastics bottle closure comprises a cap 21, which has a screwthread 22 for mating with a screw thread 20 on a bottle neck 19, and an annular portion 23, which has a flange 24 to engage a shoulder on the bottle neck, a sawtoothed edge 28, and an axial slit 26. The edge 28 of the annular portion is joined to the edge 30 of the cap by an ultrasonically welded frangible seam after mounting the two portions separately on the bottle. The annular portion 23 is supported by an annular member 31 while it is ultrasonically welded to the cap 21.
