698,275. Hypodermic Injection devices. SCHERING AKT.-GES. Jan. 12, 1951 [Jan. 16, 1950], No. 968/51. Class 81 (ii). A device for subcutaneous or intramuscular injections of small quantities of salve or paste comprises a hollow needle in the bore of which a piston is adapted by a guide to move between two limiting positions in one of which the end of the piston is at the point of the needle and in the other of which the piston is so far withdrawn within the bore as to free the bore to an extent corresponding to the volume of medicament to be expressed by the piston. The piston b is in the form of a rod. The guide is composed of two parts in telescopic relation, one part c being integral with the needle a and the other part c<SP>1</SP> being integral with or connected to the piston b. Lugs d on the part c integral with the needle a move within slots e in the part c' integral with the piston b, the opposite ends of the slots e defining the limiting positions of the piston b. Before use the point of the needle a is kept sterile by a cover of glass or " Cellophane " (Registered Trade Mark) and the other end of the needle is provided with a plug of paraffin or other wax.
