Abstract

650,016. Windscreen - wipers. VAUXHALL MOTORS, Ltd. Sept. 20, 1948, No. 24588. [Class 138(i)] [Also in Group, XXIV] A windscreen-wiper mechanism comprises a rocker arm secured intermediateits length to the wiper shaft and a rod adapted to be reciprocated by a prime mover, the rocker arm and rod being interconnected by crossed links. The rocker arm 5 is secured to the windscreen-wiper shaft 4. The rocker arm is interconnected with the rod 6 reciprocable by a prime mover, e.g. electric or suction motor, by pivoted crossed links. 7, 8, positioned on opposite sides of the rocker arm and rod. The shaft is preferably secured at the middle of the rocker arm and the distance between the pivot points on the rockerarm is equal to the distance between the pivot points on the rod. When the wiper arm 3 is in its central position the rocker arm is substantially parallel to the rod. In the limiting positions of the wiper arm the links are substantially at right angles. to one another.
