664,132. Window cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Nov. 15, 1949 [Dec. 2, 1948], No. 29254/49. Class 138 (i) [Also in Group XXVIII] A cleaner for a slidably adjustable window 3 of a motor vehicle comprises a wiper 4 rockably mounted adjacent the window and means whereby the wiper is automatically urged against the surface of the window when the window is moved to and/or from a closed position. The wiping blade 4 is mounted in a channelled holder 5 in the window receiving well 2 of a vehicle door 1 so that as the window 3 is raised and/or lowered into the well 2 it is cleaned by the blade 4. The window is moved by means of a piston 14 connected to the window by cable flights 16. The piston 14 is moved one way or the other by the opposite ends of its cylinder 13 being connected to the induction-manifold 20 of the vehicle engine and to atmosphere alternately through two solenoid operated valves 18 controlled by push buttons 32. The blade holder 5 is rockably supported by trunnions 6 on the door frame and may be moved away from the window in one direction of its movement by means of a connection to an auxiliary spring loaded piston in a cylinder 21, which is connected to one end of the main cylinder 13. In an alternative construction the bladeholder shaft carries a rubber-tyred wheel which bears on the window surface and rotates the blade to or from the window as it is moved. Movement of the blade is limited by stops. A channel to remove moisture collected by the blade is provided on the blade-holder or on the window frame; this channel leads to a conduit 12.
