Abstract

A wiper system for a vehicle comprises a wiper arm and blade 1 pivotally attached to each front door 2 of the vehicle so as to wipe the front window in the vicinity of the door mirror 7, and a wiper arm and blade 3,28 mounted on a guide 4 on the mirror so as to translate laterally across the mirror surface. The guide 4 is flexibly mounted at 5 to allow the blade to contact the mirror surface at all angles of adjustment of the mirror. Both wipers are operated via cables 10,17 by a single motor 9 mounted in each door, the cables being connected to a reciprocating arm 27 of the motor so as to act in unison. Washing nozzles 20 may also be provided.

Description

Hi'\ ( _1_ WIPER SYSTEM
This invention Elates to a motor vehicle foremost side windows and outside rear Mew mirrors wiper system, win washers Wipers and washers are well known devices used on rotator vehicles to remove rain water, dirt and snow from windscreens, rear windows and headarnps.
Two important areas u provided for are the foremost side wir cows and the outside rear view mirrors.
According to Me present inversion Were is provided for use on a motor vehicle, wipers for the foremost side wires and wipers for the outside rear view mirrors, cornprisir wiper arms and blades pivoted near the front of the foremost side doors and wiper arms and blades mounted in suitable guides which allow lateral movement, the said guides are attached to the outside rear view mirrors in such a way as to maintain contact between the mirror wiper blades and the mirror face throughout the mirrors adjustment range, during the operational cycle, the said wipers are operated by cables corrected to the operating; lever of one motor mourned inside each door, the mirror wipers and the side window wipers operate in unison
A specific embodymert of tire invention will now be described by way of example wrth reference to the accornpayir drawers in which: Reference rejoicer shows the upper part of a motor vehicles foremost right hand or offside door, 21.shows its window, 13. and 1.
shows its wiper and and blade, 12 shows the sari wipers aching lever. lO. shows said wipers operators cable, 33. shows Me comiiri window seal and wiper park,; Reference number 7. shows a motor vehicles foremost right harm or offside door mirror body, 22 shows its mirror face, 4.shows mirror wiper guide hoe, g. shows the point at which the guide tube is flexibly bonded to the mirror body,31. shows We mirror wiper slider, 3. shows the mirror wiper arm and 23. its blade, 17 shows the mirror wiper operating cable.
Reference number 18. shows a cut away in Me motor vehicle door, 9. shows the motor which operates both the side window wiper and the mirror wiper, 27 shows the motors actuating lever. lO. and 17. shows Me side window and mirror wiper operating cables respectvly.
2C.shows conventional washer jets for side window and mirror.
_3_ Referir to the drawing, when Me motor 9. is erersed the lever 27. oscillates, causing cables 10. and 17. to movers achy lever12. and slider 31. this operates tot side window wiper ann 13.
and blade 1. in an arc radars from pivot 14. whilst simuitainwsly moving sWer 31. throw guide tube 4. this causes the mirror wiper! arm 3. and blade 28. to move to and fro accross the mirror face 22 whilst self adjusting v a Me flexible mount rig 5. to permit cot contact between w per blades. and mirror face 2 prod Me mirrors adjustment range.
A washer system win jets 20. operate during the forward stroke of the wipers operation.
The side window wiper blade 1. parks on a combined wirers seal / wiper blade rest 33. thus preventing intrusion of the wiper arm 13.
and blade 1. into Me vehicle when the window is Idly open.
A wiper motor and washers isolate is fitted to Me trader side of the side vendor 21. to prevent operation of the wipers arm washers mmediatiy Me side window is oper ed,
