Abstract

972,465. Slicing machines. MAATSCHAPPIJ VAN BERKEL'S PATENT N.V. Sept. 14, 1963, No. 36273/63. Heading A4C. A slicing machine having a feed table reciprocated by motor means 10 includes connecting means which selectively connects the motor to the table the reciprocate the latter at either of two speeds, the strokes of the table at the respective speeds being unequal. The output shaft 11 of the motor 10 drives, by means of worms in a gear box 15, two shafts such as 16 at different speeds to drive a pair of cranks such as 16A having different throws, the cranks in turn causing a simultaneous reciprocation of links 18, 19 pivotally connected at one end thereto. The links 18, 19 at their other ends are pivotally connected respectively to arms 21, 22 pivotally mounted on a common shaft 23 which further pivotally mounts a third arm 26 which reciprocates the feed table. The third arm 26 pivotally mounts a rocker 27 having lugs 28 at its ends which selectively engage recesses 25 in the ends 24 of the arms 21, 22, whereby on manually positioning an eccentrically mounted selector handle 32 causing movement of the rocker 27 through a link 29, a lug 28 is engaged in one or other recess 25 to lock the third arm 26 to one or other arm 21 or 22. Alternatively the handle 32 may be located in a neutral position in which the rocker 27 does not engage either arm 21, 22 and the feed table is reciprocated manually.
