[Class 6 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] Relates to motor- and hand-operated hedgeclippers with superposed blades having laterally extending teeth, in which means are provided for reciprocating the blades relatively to each other. According to the invention, a hedgeclipper of this type is provided in which the teeth of the two blades are arranged to cross by bending one or both sets of teeth so that the edges of the teeth rub each other as they pass. Fig. 1 shows a hand-operated hedgeclipper with coincident triangular teeth 3 along one edge of each blade arranged for reciprocal movement of one blade along the other, one blade being provided with slots 8 through which pass bolts 7 carried by the other blade. The teeth of the blades are inclined towards each other either by bending the teeth of one blade out of the plane of that blade towards the second blade or by turning the straight edge of one blade inwards. The clipper is operated by holding a handle 17 fixed to an extension 16 of the bolt carrying blade and oscillating by a handle 21 a lever 19 arranged on a pivot 15 carried on a lateral extension 14 of the bolt carrying blade. Two projections 20 on the inner surface of this )ever 19 engage with a lug 18 on the slotted blade, thus giving a reciprocating movement to this blade as the lever is oscillated. In a modification, Fig. 5, the lever 19 is pivoted on a carrier member 22 and engages with both blades, causing opposite displacement of the blades with respect to the carrier member 22 and thus halving the stroke of the lever 19. The lever 19 may be terminated at the lug 18 and connected through the pivot 15 by a short link 25 to a crank 26 secured on a shaft 27 which is driven by an electric motor.
