Abstract

618,339. Leaf-cuting appliances. TARPEN ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., ROSS, J. W., and FAY, B. D. Oct. 21, 1946, No. 31199. [Classes 6 (ii) and 6 (iii)] An appliance for cutting leaves and the like comprises a fixed blade 2, a reciprocating blade 3 and a paddle wheel 14 for guiding the leaves to the blades. The members 3, 14 are electrically driven by a motor housed in the handle, the blade 3 through a worm and wheel and a crank-pin engaging a slot in a bracket on the end of the blade, and the wheel 14 through the worm and wheel and a belt and pulley gearing. The wheel blades 15 are flexible. A detachable bag 25 receives the leaves and the frame may be provided with hooks and a strap for supporting on the operator.
