[Class 6(i)] A power-operated cultivating apparatus comprises a motor 13 mounted on a wheelsupporting frame and driving through a suitable cam or eccentric mechanism, one or more downwardly - extending pivotally-mounted lever arms 18 having at their lower ends cultivating tools 20 which oscillate towards and away from each other transversely to the direction of travel of the machine. The handle shaft 22 may embody a fuel tank 24 and also an air filter. Suitable plant shields 28 are secured to the frame to guide the leaves of plants clear of the blades 20.
