Abstract
648,831. Actuation of switches. UNITED AIRCRAFT PRODUCTS, Inc. May 8,1947, No. 12470. Convention date, May 8, 1946. [Class 28(v)] [Also in Groups XIII and XXIX' In a radiator for cooling an aircraft engine and comprising sections each provided with inlet and outlet valves to prevent fluid flow through the section if it is damaged, (see Group XIII), each outlet valve 74, Fig. 12, which is held open by the pressure of the coolant when its flow is normal, is closed by its spring 76 if flow through its section is reduced by damage, and, through a lever 81, closes an electric switch 76 which causes the inlet valve to close. To prevent closure of all the inlet valves when the flow of coolant is slow but the sections are undamaged, an electric switch 84, Fig. 8, is operated by a paddle 86 near the inlet to the radiator.
