648,081. Electromagnetic switches; contact-members for switches. DONOVAN ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd., DONOVAN, E. T. G., and POYNOR, F. R. Nov. 18, 1948, No. 29963. [Class 38(v)] The movable contact 5 of, e.g. an electromagnetic contactor, is bolted to a rocking lever 6 which is pivoted at 10 and connected at 11 to a spindle 12. The latter passes freely through a sleeve 13 which is adjustably threaded into a crank 14 secured to the operating spindle 15, a spring 17 being adjustably stressed between a cup-shaped washer 18 and the cup-shaped head 13a of sleeve 13, so that the spring is compressed when the switch is closed. The gap between the fixed and movable contacts 3, 5, may be varied to compensate for wear by rotating sleeve 13, which is then secured by a lock-nut 16, the contactpressure 'in the switch-closed position being restored to its original value by altering the position of washer 18.
