Abstract
554,086. Switch contacts ; centrifugal switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 25, 1942, No. 2454. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1941. [Class 38 (v)] For operation particularly by the movement of a collar a lug a shaft under the influence of centrifugal weights a switch mechanism comprises a contact finger with a moving contact mounted on an actuating arm pivoted to a support which carries the co-operating fixed contact tension means such as a spring biasing the finger and arm towards the support. In the example, the collar 21 presses the actuating arm 34 into the position shown, the contacts 30, 37 being together, the biasing spring 43 being stretched not only by the leverage of the arm 34 on its fulcrum 35 but also by that of the contact finger about its fulcrum 52. By this arrangement there is a small pressure on 34 with a contact pressure much greater.
