[Also in Group XVII] A switch for controlling the operation of a machine for folding up box blanks is worked by a hand lever 361 fixed on a sprung plunger 362 axially slidable in bores in a sleeve 363 and an abutment flange 364 projecting from the sleeve which is journalled on a hollow insulating shaft 368 journalled on a pin 369 projecting from the casing back plate 371 and bearing an indicator 373 projecting through the front casing. Three radial bores 377 spaced 120 degrees apart are formed in the shaft 368 to receive the plunger 362 when it is pushed in against its spring 366, while the switch casing is provided with a slot 374 wide enough to accommodate groove 375 in the plunger head but enlarged at its ends to allow the plunger head to pass through it, the slot allowing for movement of the lever 361 through 120 degrees. A contact-mounting arm 378 having four spring-loaded contact studs 381 ... 384 is integral with the shaft 368 and a plate 386 of insulating material fitted with fixed contact studs and segments connected to the operating circuit is screwed to the back plate 371, while a tension spring 385 urges the lever 361 to one end of the slot. A spring 379 prevents rotation of the shaft 368 when the lever 361 is moved in the reverse direction. Specification 518,388 is referred to.
