Abstract
557,725. Contact mountings; centrifugal switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO.; Ltd. June 8, 1942, No. 7804. Convention date, June 6, 1941. [Class 38 (v)] A contact assembly for a switch, described in connection with centrifugally operated mechanism as in Specification 504,678, comprises an actuation member with a movable contact, supported on a base-plate by resilient means, with a fulcrum point resting on the base so that, when pressed, it rocks about the fulcrum to close contact on to a fixed contact on the base. Fig. 3 shows the parts with contacts 30, 35 separated and the sliding collar 21, operated by the centrifugal mechanism 22, 23, in the running position. When the speed falls to the desired degree the collar 21 bears on projection 33 on an H-shaped actuating member 32 bearing contact 35, and carried on base-plate 26 by a forked plate spring 36 riveted to the member at 41, causing the member to rock about an extended and bent-over part or parts 43 as a fulcrum, until the contacts 30, 35 engage, further movement of the collar rocks the actuating member 32 on the contacts and lifts the fulcrum 43 from the base-plate.
