Abstract

1,217,484. Vacuum switches. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. 14 Feb., 1968 [15 Nov., 1966], No. 51074/66. Heading H1N. In a vacuum switch, the moving contact 20 is actuated by link 30 through a lever 32 having a central pivot 40 which is resiliently held by spring 44 against a fixed fulcrum plate 41 about which the lever 32 pivots when the contacts 19, 20 are separated but which is disengaged due to compression of the spring 44 as the contacts engage whereby the spring 44 applies a resilient bias to the moving contact 20. The assembly comprises three vacuum switches 11 actuated from a single shaft 28 through three vertical links 30. In a modification the contact carrier is actuated by a downwardly extending link (105), Fig. 4 (not shown), through a lever which carries a rubber roller (113) engageable with a fixed stop (115) about which the lever (103) pivots when the contacts open, the spring unit (108) thereby acting to assist the opening of the contacts.
