Abstract

647,334. Seats. JEEVES, E. A. Nov. 29, 1948, No. 30922. [Class 52 (ii)] A back-rest comprises a back frame, a stay or stays pivoted thereto and adapted, when the back-rest is opened into erect position to engage the back frame automatically so as to prevent further opening. As shown the back-rest comprises side-members 1 connected by transverse bars 2 and a lower bar 2a, stay members 3 pivoted to the side members I at 4 and connected by transverse rods 7 and a flexible seat member carried by lower bar 2a and adapted, when in operative position, to rest on the ground or the like. When fully opened the tops of the stay members 3 abut at 3a on the top transverse bars 2. The seat may comprise an empty cushion cover 8 which may be stuffed when desired. In modifications the seat may be an upholstered one or an inflatable cushion and the back frame may be covered with upholstery &c., one or more of the transverse bars 2 may be replaced by curved members or by springs.
