Abstract

677,577. Seats; mattresses. INGRAM, G. March 5, 1951. [April 3, 1950] No. 8303/50. Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iv). A chair, settee, &c. is provided with a combined seat and back the edges of which may be attached to complementary anchorages distributed over the sides of the chair, &c. so as to vary the contour of the seat and back as desired. As shown the seat and back comprises a series of spiral springs 10, 11, 12, 13 detachably connected to selected positions on wires forming a mesh panel 9 on the sides of the chair &c. If desired the springs may be replaced by a sheet of canvas &c., or by a series of horizontal bars articulated together like the rungs of a flexible ladder.
