Abstract

This back rest consists of two light alloy frames joined at the top by a bar whch has an adjustable hinge of the sort now used in banana chairs etc. The bar is slightly concave to provide comfort for the back and is covered in foam. A strong fabric across the front frame supports the back. Pointed metal pieces at the base of the frames, at each corner dig in the sand or grass and so secure the position of the back rest. The width of the back rest is preferably approximately 27 cm and the height 35 cm. The width of the base of the back frame may be less than that of the front frame. <IMAGE>

Description

XkCK REST This invention is for sketchers, fishermen, backpackers etc. It is for people with little room to carry things. The advantage over a small folding stool is that it provides rest for the back and could accompany a foam pad, now sold in camping shops.
Figure 1 shows the Back Rest as it would be when used.
A. This is the Back Rest bar with an adjustable hinge. It would be slightly concave for comfort and would be covered in foam.
B. This part would be of strong fabric to support the back.
C. The supporting frame would be made of light alloy.
D. This part of the frame would naturally not show through the fabric.
E. This part indicates the small metal points which would be used to dig into the sand or grass.
The width of the Back Rest would be approximately 27 centimeters and the height approximately 35 centimeters, but this could be altered.
Figure 2 shows the Back Rest from the side. On the left it is shown folded up and on the right as it would be in use.
Figure 3 shows the Back Rest from the front.
The width of the base of the back frame could be less than that of the front frame.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIM
    Small folding chairs and stools are of course already sold.
    However what is not acknowledged at present is that many people do not have room to carry folding chairs and get no back rest with the stool. This Back Rest could be very useful for bicyclists, campers, backpackers, sketchers, hikers and fishermen etc. All people without cars, or with cars with very little room in them.
    Figure 1 of the drawings best indicates the invention.
