Abstract
646,807. Linear-dimension gauges. NILSSON GAGE CO., Inc. Sept. 19, 1947, No. 25540. Convention date, May 15. [Class 106 (ii)] A snap-gauge comprises a frame 10 having a fixed anvil 11, an anvil 12 which is movable within narrow limits, and a dial gauge 13, the latter being operated from the hollow spindle 22 of the anvil 12 through the rotation of a cam rod 35. The rod 35 is in a bore in the frame, has two cam faces 36, 37 engaging, respectively, the end of a screw 24 within the spindle 22 and the end of the spring-pressed spindle 38 of the dial gauge, and is mounted for rotation on pivot points carried by screws 17, 18. The spindle 22 is slotted to receive the end of the rod 35, and internally screw-threaded to receive the screw 24. The frame 10 is bored to receive the spindle 22, and a concentric enlarged bore provides a shoulder for a flange 25 on the screw 24. A collar 27 around a plane extension 26 of the screw 24 is held in position by a removable cap 29, and a coil spring 28 is compressed between the collar and the flange 25. Downward movement of the spindle 22 and anvil 12, against the action of the spring 28, is limited by the distance between the flange 25 and the upper end of the collar 27, and is within the safety limits of the dial gauge 13. The end 26 of the screw 24 is slotted to receive a tool whereby the initial position of the anvil 12 can be adjusted. The frame is provided with a work stop 15 and a removable hand grip 14.
