964,902. Perforating dies. MAXAM Inc. March 15, 1961, No. 9570/61. Heading B4B. [Also in Division B6] A die 10, Figs. 1, 3, for carrying a perforating tool, is clamped in a readily releasable manner to a carrier 22 through the interengagement of grooved pins 14 on the die with latching members 32 slidable in horizontal bores 26 in the carrier. Bushed apertures 20 are provided in the carrier to locate the pins 14 and the members 32 are rigidly secured externally of the carrier to a bar 40 which is movable towards and away from the latter through the rotation, via a handle 46, of a screw 36 located in the carrier parallel to the bores 26 and the thread groove of which engages a set-screw 38 fixed to the carrier. In a further embodiment, latching members 32<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6, are slidably actuated through rotation of a shaft 52 fixedly mounting fork members 54 engaging a pin 51 which connects the members 32<SP>1</SP>. The shaft is spring- loaded into die-engaging position by a spring 59 acting on the operating handle 56 of the shaft.
