Abstract

The multi-head milling machine has fixed cutters heads mounted around a rotating work table with the work pieces held by vices, one for each work station. The vice consists of a housing (11) with two cheeks with drillings (11a, 12a) by which the moving jaw (10) is pinned. A fixed jaw (16) is held to the housing by a countersunk screw. Both jaws have slots (10e, 16c) to clear the milling cutters. A spring (19) holds the jaws open, against a cam (24). The jaw opening can be adjusted by a screw (20) and lock nut (21). The cam (24) is operated by an external pneumatic cylinder which releases the work pieces at the appropriate transfer station.
