888,260. Vices. EKLUNDS MEKANISKA VERKSTAD A.B., E. N. May 16,1960 [May 16, 1959], No. 17119/60. Class 61. In a machine tool vice having a stationary jaw 6 and a movable jaw 7 fixed to a slide 16 movable in a guide 17 in the body 5 of the vice, the slide and jaw being movable towards and away from the fixed jaw by means of a screw spindle 9 extending through the slide, the spindle is rotatably mounted in a bearing 10 in the body but held against axial movement therein, the slide 16 having an extension 18 in front of the clamping surface 19 of the movable jaw 7, and the fixed jaw 6 having a bore 23 to accommodate the slide when the movable jaw approaches the fixed jaw. The movable jaw 7 is secured by bolts 15 to the slide 16. A bore 20 extends through the slide and has screw threads 21 which mesh with the screw spindle 9. The slide 16 is made detachable from the vice by suitably dimensioning the bore 23 to allow the slide to pass out after removal of the jaw 7. The body 5 is rotatably mounted on the bottom plate I and locked in adjusted position by a clamping ring 3.
