Abstract
645,817. Meshing-screw pumps or motors. AKTIEBOLAGET IMO-INDUSTRI. Oct. 21, 1948, No. 27387. Convention date, Dec. 10, 1947. [Class 110(ii)] The pump or motor comprises a number of screws 6, 7 which are carried in a sleeve 4 and a balancing piston 15, on a shaft 8, carrying a sleeve 18 whose end 18<SP>1</SP> is pressed against a fixed stop 2 by fluid under pressure in a chamber 12. The sleeves 4. 18 are prevented from rotating by a screw 5 and a tube 19. The latter connects the interior 21 of the sleeve 18 to the suction compartment 11. For a pump, ports 10, 13 act as inlet and delivery, respectively. The rotor end shafts 16, 17 support sleeves 25, 26 which bear against an end cap 3. Fluid under delivery pressure acts on the shaft ends within these sleeves, passing through conduits 23, 24 to a manifold 30 containing ducts 29, 31, 32. A spring 22 holds the sleeve 18 against the stop 2, when the machine is stopped. A seal 14 is pressed against the stop 2. A bearing ring 35 is provided.
