Abstract

642,727. Electromagnetic switches; locking switches. FULKES, L. P., and COMMERCIAL IGNITION CO., Ltd. April 17, 1947, No. 10257. [Class 38(v)] Two electromagnetic or pressure-operated switches are interlocked so that only one can be closed at a time. In the form shown, two electromagnets are disposed side by side each having a contact-carrying armature 27 or 28 pivoted on the castellated upper portion of a common support 26. Each armature is forked at its inner end and the forks are slotted at the side to receive the projections of the support 26. Each fork extends beyond the support 26 and the prongs are there bridged by a bar to which a spring' 51 is connected biassing the armature to its " off " position. The bar also serves, in the closed position of a switch by coming beneath the prongs of the other armature to prevent the other armature from being actuated. The switches are suitable for controlling a D.C. reversible shunt motor for opening and closing sliding windows as described in Specification 642,760.
