Abstract

642,547. Electromagnetic switches. WICKS, G. C. Dec. 11, 1947, No. 32646. [Class 38(v)] [Also in Group XI] An electric liquid flow heater (see Group XI) has a switch comprising a coil 43 actuating an armature 45 carrying a contact 46, the downward movement of armature 45 being resisted by a projection 58 on a spring blade 57, to prevent sparking between contact 46 and its co-operating contact 48. The switch is situated in a chamber 11 in an insulating block 10, a spring 51 serving to return the armature 45 to open position upon the de-energization of the coil 43. Safety switches are included in series with the coil 43 to ensure an adequate water flow before it becomes energized.
