Abstract
641,871. Door latches. WILMOT-BREEDEN, Ltd., and SPICER, H. J. Aug. 20, 1948, No. 22047. [Class 44] A door latch having a spring-loaded bolt or rotating latch has a lever operable at the free edge of the door adapted to prevent actuation of the inside handle. In the form of Fig. 1, the bolt a is retractable by a lever c engaged by the outside handle follower e and the inside handle follower f. An extension i on the follower f carries a stud j engaged in a notch m in the lever k. The lever k is retained in the locking or unlocking positions by an over-centre spring n and operable by a coin or other tool engaged in a notch o in a part projecting from the edge of the door. The follower f may be turned in the reverse direction to engage the projection q in a notch p to lock the latch. In another form. Fig. 2, having a swinging latch u adapted to cooperate with a peg v and to be released by a lever w on the inside handle spindle, the lever z is adapted to engage against a shoulder y to prevent operation of the inside handle. A projecting part 3 has a notch 4 for operation of the lever z.
