Abstract
641,012. Load-handling machines. HYSTER CO. Dec. 3, 1947, No. 31983. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1942. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXI] In a load-handling truck the rear undriven steering-wheel 27 carries a load counterbalancing weight 44 which is movable therewith. This weight, which is rotatable relative to the chassis about a vertical pivot 99, is U shaped in plan to facilitate removal of the wheel 27, the axle 35 of which is secured to said weight by the engagement of its conical end 45 in a socket 47 and the engagement of the conical end of a threaded member 40 with its conical bore 38. Removal of the wheel is effected by unscrewing the member 40 sufficiently to allow the shaft end 45 to clear the socket 47 whereupon the shaft is engaged solely by collars 51 which are shaped as in Fig. 5 to allow the wheel to be withdrawn therefrom, and also to locate the shaft in alignment with the socket 47 and the member 40 on replacement of the wheel. The load-supporting guide frame 100 is tilted by a member 108, the end 116 of which is reciprocated by a hydraulic mechanism (Fig. 6, not shown) in a manner similar to that disclosed in Specification 641,013.
