Abstract

640,811. Ring connectors. HAY, H. M. Sept. 3, 1948, No. 23242. [Class 44] [Also in Group X] Means for suspending a T-section lath d, used to support building boards from a purlin f, comprises a hanger e and a gapped rigid ring a which is inserted through a hole e in the web of the lath, turned to the position shown in Fig. 2, and then hooked over the upturned portion e<1> of the hanger e. In a modification shown in Fig. 6 a gapped rigid ring a is used to connect a fish-plate g to a lath d, the ring a being inserted through coinciding holes h in the fish-plate and the lath and turned to a locking position. This arrangement may be used to support as shown the lath d on the flange of an angle lath i or to connect two adjacent laths d end to end by using two rings a. The fish-plate may be of inverted U-section to fit over the web of the lath. In a further modification the holes in the fish-plate are slightly offset to those in the lath and a ring of rectangular cross-section is employed, a binding effect being thus produced when the ring is turned to a locking position. With this arrangement, as shown in Fig. 10, when a plain fish-plate is used an additional binding effect may be obtained by forcing the fish-plate k against the web of the lath d.
