Abstract

640,546. Railway vehicle axle trucks. DEHN, S. G. (General Steel Castings Corporation). Jan. 22, 1948, No. 2034. [Class 103(vi)] A railway vehicle truck has equalizers 4 positioned laterally beyond the wheels 2. a truck frame 6 supported on springs 5 resting on the equalizers 4, a bolster 14 extending transversely above and beyond the equalizers 4 and bolster-supporting springs 13 positioned wholly beyond the equalizers 4 laterally of the truck. The bolster is carried by springs 13 positioned on the spring plank 12 which is connected by swing hangers 10 from the truck frame 6. The bolster-supporting springs 13 may have a greater deflection for a given load than the truck-frame supporting springs 5 and shock absorbers 22 may be provided to prevent undue oscillation of springs 13. Leaf springs may also be used in combination with the coil springs 13 for supporting the bolster.
