640,052. Universal joints; shafts. KOLB, P., and HRYNISZAK, W. Dec. 12, 1947, No. 32765 [Class 80(ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] A gas turbine rotor 3 drives an output shaft 8 through reduction gearing 6 and, to prevent vibrations being transmitted from the gears back to the turbine, the turbine drive includes a torsionally flexible element. The turbine shaft 9 is supported in bearings 11 and the shaft 10, which car ries the gear pinion 6 is supported in bearings 12. The two shafts are hollow and are drivingly connected by a quill shaft 13 which is splined to the shafts 9, 10 at 14. Specification 641,377, [Group XXVI], is referred to.
