1,181,028. Helicopter rotor drive. P. A. SOLOVIEV, I. P. EVICH, G. P. KALASHNIKOV, L. I. KANTOR, and S. N. ZAMOTIN. 2 July, 1968, No. 31465/68. Headings B7G and B7W. [Also in Division F2] In a geared power transmission, particularly for twin engines, single rotor, helicopters, two nested shafts 12, 11 driven simultaneously by an input shaft (2) respectively drive, through bevels 15, 24; 16, 25, spur pinions26, 27 meshing an output spur wheel 33. As shown, the output wheel 33 is driven by parallel twin gas turbine engines (1), through two pairs of shafts 12, 11. and is followed by a planetary reduction unit, not shown. A tail rotor and a fan are driven from the output wheel 33 through shafts 35, 39. Each engine drives its respective pair of shafts 12, 11 through a barrel roller coupling (5) permitting limited misalignment, a shaft (4), a one-way clutch (9) permitting autorotation landing or continued flight with only one engine running, and a mechanism, Fig. 6 (not shown), equally distributing torque between the shafts 12, 11.
