638,498. Hooks. ZEEVEN, J. H. Oct. 4, 1946, No. 29693. [Class 89 (ii)] Hooks, particularly those for the connection of towing and hauling cables and for use in ships' rigging, are closed by a mousing piece locked in position by a spring-pressed member sliding on a straight portion of the shank. The hook d, Figs. 1 and 2, is closed by a mousing piece f rigidly mounted on a sleeve f<SP>1</SP> sliding on the hollow shank d<SP>1</SP>. A pin E in the part f<SP>1</SP> passes through slots e in the shank and acts as one abutment for a spring g prestressed in the shank by a stop h secured by a cross pin m that also secures the swivel ring k:
