Abstract
637,024. Cans having pouring openings. BROWN, H., LOFTS, S. E., and WELLSEALS, Ltd. Oct.. 3, 1947, No. 26673. [Class 66] The lower edge 26 of a sealing-ring &c. 24 is inserted between e.g. a depressed part of the top of the can and a bead 20 on the neck ring of the pouring opening of the can which receives a closure 23 e.g. a bung, lever-lid or stopper. The sealing-ring 24 is turned over at the top 25 to hold the closure in place so that the can cannot be opened without obvious distortion of the sealing-ring 24 &c. In modifications, the top of the sealing-ring has a .tearing tab facilitating its removal; the sealing-ring is integral with, or its lower edge fits in place together with a pouring lip which may turn about the pouring opening; or the sealing- ring may be extended as a cap covering the greater part of the closure 23 and the overlying part may be torn off along a weakened or scored line. Specifications 480,319 and 480,338 are referred to in the Provisional Specification.
