[Class 125 (iii)] Bottles &c. having a neck the lower portion of which has a reduced section are sealed by a metal capsule 1 the skirt of which is contracted to adhere smoothly to the neck, and after this contraction is provided with cuts 3, cross - hatchings, perforations, marks, &c. to provide a weakened portion for tearing and at the same time prevent tampering with the contents. A manufacturer's mark may be engraved on the top of the capsule before or after application, or it may be affixed to the capsule, or be made subsequent to application upon the contracted part. An appendage 6 may be provided to facilitate tearing the capsule for removal. A cork &c. disc may be inserted in the top of the capsule.
